Last night, I had the pleasure of spending the evening at Bonhams Auction House, to preview a spectacular mural by Keith Haring. As, I was admiring this amazing piece of work, it had me wondering, two things: First, how did an amazing piece of work end up on the walls of a Catholic youth house? and second, how in the world was this insured?
Yes, I know what you are thinking, "this woman has a serious problem, why is she spending time thinking about coverage when I had the chance to work this mind blowing in a private setting?" I know it's crazy, but following my logic, as many of you know, I am a classically trained violinist and an occasional cults!
It wasn't until my violin sustained massive damage during a transatlantic flight that I realized the importance of properly covering things that give us pleasure, such as musical instruments and fine arts. Not only was I able to secure a temporary instrument for the performance, the insurer was able to locate a world renowned repair facility in the country that specialized in German violins. Talk about service!
Remember the old adage is true, you get what you pay for. Make sure that if it is important to you and/or your family, you should consider spending the resources to make sure that your valuables are properly covered and that your consultants truly understand your needs.
